Sawantwadi is a scenic town situated in the Konkan region of Maharashtra in the Sindhudurg district. It is located on the National Highway (NH17) that connects Mumbai and Goa.

Sawantwadi Palace

The palace, earlier situated atop of Narendra hills in Sawantwadi belongs to the erstwhile state rulers called Khem- Sawant after whom the village takes its name. The Royal Palace of Sawantwadi (also known as the Sawantwadi Palace) is one of the major tourist attractions of the town. Built by Khem Sawant Bhonsle, the ruler of this region during 1755-1803.
